Tips to Transform Your Hair from the Inside Out
Is your hair falling out more when you wash or comb it? Does it feel dry and coarse?
The health of your hair reflects what's going on inside you and the external stressors you deal with. Plenty of products promise to transform your hair, but they won't work until you work on the inside first. Here are three simple steps to improve both the quality and quantity of your hair.
1. Improve your digestion
Hair needs nutrients, but if your digestion is stuck, the nutrients from your food won't reach your hair. Constipation, bloating, acid reflux and gas are signs your digestion isn't optimal. Over time, your hair becomes weaker and starts to fall. Identifying your food sensitivities and removing sugar and processed foods are good first steps.
2. Increase your protein
Hair is made of a protein called keratin. We need protein to build muscle, repair tissue and grow strong hair, so focus on both the quality and quantity of your protein each day. Good sources include eggs, nuts and seeds, beans, leafy greens, meat and fish.
3. Massage your scalp
Like your skin, your hair needs external care. Regularly massaging your scalp with lukewarm coconut, jojoba or olive oil invigorates and nourishes the roots. Apply oil to your scalp and hair the night before you wash it, or at least 30 minutes before shampooing. Done consistently, you'll see results.
My own hair has been on a journey, especially after having my son. I have a lot more grays, but by following these steps consistently, I've regained my hair health, and you can too.
